In her newly-published book, Gilded: How Newport Became America's Richest Resort (Wiley, 2009), best-selling author Deborah Davis tells the extravagantly colorful story of High Society in Newport, from the pinnacle of the Gilded Age in the 19th century to its New Millenium millionaires of today.  Through a narrative filled with engrossing characters and lively tales of untold extravagance, she brings the fabled resort to life.

Davis's other books include Strapless: John Singer Sargent and the Fall of Madame X (Tarcher/Putnam, 2003), which appeared on the New York Times Extended Bestseller List and was a Book Sense Top Ten Pick,  Party of the Century: The Fabulous Story of Truman Capote and his Black and White Ball (Wiley, 2006), and The Secret Lives of Frames: One Hundred Years of Art and Artistry (Filipacchi, 2006).  Her upcoming book, Booker T. Comes to Washington: The Infamous White House Dinner, the Scandal that Followed, and the Unlikely Partnership that Transformed America, will be published by Simon & Schuster in 2011.
