The Children’s Education Division returns to The Newport Flower Show!  With the 2008 theme, “Explore Botanical Passions,” children will spend three fun-filled days exploring, creating and learning about our botanical past and present.

Entry Guidelines

1. Anyone age 12 and under is eligible to enter.  All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

2. All exhibits must be removed on Sunday, June 29, 2008 between 5:30 pm and 6 pm.  The Committee will not be responsible for exhibits left after 6 pm.



Friday, June 17

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
"What's in a Name?"             Limited to 25 entries

Floral arranging competition in a bamboo container.
Container and flowers will be provided.  Bring your clippers and creativity.  Arrangements will be judged and exhibited for the duration of the Show.


3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Terrarium Floral Dioramas     Limited to 12 entries


Saturday, June 28

Botanical Jewelry Making      Limited to 25 entries

Learn the age old tradition of using flowers and organic materials to create unique wearable botanical art.

The Dirty World of Worms   Limited to 25


3:00 pm  - 4:00 pm
Botanical Papermaking           Limited to 25 entries

Let that used paper live again while learning the simple and fun craft of papermaking

Using gourds from Green Animals, create the perfect new habitat for our small and feathered friends

Mr. Ward's Little Garden" Horticulture Class

This class is fully subscribed.   Reminder:  Entries created at the April horticulture workshop for this class should be dropped off at the Children’s tent at Rosecliff on Thursday, June 26, 2008 between 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm.  On-site parking at Rosecliff is available at this time only.
