Photography at the Newport Mansions

The Preservation Society of Newport County encourages many kinds of photography and film making at our properties. Notable films from True Lies to The Great Gatsby to Amistad have been shot here. Top networks and producers from ABC to the Travel Channel have produced programs and segments in and around these stately and enchanting grounds. Commercial photography for many applications can also be arranged, along with wedding photography.

However, a written permission agreement is required for all photography or videography, with the exception of photos or video of property exteriors taken by admitted visitors, strictly for their personal use, such as souvenir photos or videos.

Every visitor who purchases and uses a ticket to visit the buildings and grounds accepts this limitation implicitly.  Members, guests of members, persons visiting on passes or escorted as members of tour groups and fam tours agree to the same limitations. Under no circumstance may photos taken under these licenses be used for commercial purposes or distributed to stock photography houses.

Our staff can provide rapid, well co-ordinated, user friendly access for photographers, crews and program producers. However, at all times the primary consideration must be the protection of the historic buildings, art and furnishings.
